Obituary of Ronald Edward Metters

1932 - 2010

We are very sad to announce the passing of Ronald Edward Metters at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 77 years of age.

Ron was born on May 7, 1932 in London, Ontario. He left the family farm for the Navy Reserve and then travelled out west where he met his wife Phyllis. They moved to Vancouver and he worked for BC Tel until he was transferred to Cranbrook where they built their dream house. Ron retired in 1993 and remained in Cranbrook. He was a gentle soul who had many friends. He was very close to his family and loved his dog Stanley. Ron will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Ron is survived by his son Kevin (Vicki) Metters; daughter Karen (Pat) Collison; nephew Doug Metters; two nieces who were like daughters to him: Joanne Metters and Gail Davis; 4 grandchildren: Jordan Metters, Branden Metters, Ayden Collison and Brielle Collison. He was predeceased by his mother and father Fred and Zella Metters; his brother Jack Metters; and his wife Phyllis Metters who passed away in 2006.

A Celebration of Life service for Ron will be held at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm. An Interment for Ron will take place in St. Mary's, Ontario at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Ron may do so to the: East Kootenay S.P.C.A., Box 2, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 4H6.
