Obituary of Michael Edward Babcock

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness, that the family of Michael Edward Babcock announce his sudden passing in Cranbrook, B.C., on June 15th, 2020 at the age of 27, after losing his ongoing battle with mental illness and addiction.

Michael was born in Creston, B.C., on March 25th, 1993 and spent most of his childhood in Canyon, B.C. In 2000 his family moved to Cranbrook, where he attended Mount Baker Secondary School. In High School he played football for Mount Baker Wild, and later pursued his dream by playing as a quarterback for the Kamloops Broncos in 2012. He spent the last few years of his life in Nanaimo hiking and exploring Vancouver Island.

Michael was a loving person with a kind, gentle soul. He loved nature, animals, and spending time outdoors on camping trips, and riding trails on his motorcycle. He especially loved his dogs Mickey, Minnie, Magnum, and his nephew Captain. One of Michael’s favourite things to do was working in the forest with his Dad Glenn, running the chainsaw or brush saw spacing trees. Michael was very athletic, enjoying team sports such as hockey, football, and baseball. He also loved family activities like skiing, bike riding and improvised sports with his brother Davis.

He is survived by his Mom and Dad, Cindy and Glenn Yates, his father Kim Babcock, his older sister Christianne (Davis) Mayo and his younger brother Davis (Kiana) Yates.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but never, ever forgotten.
