Our deepest condolences to Arnold's family. Arnold was a wonderful spirit and an example to us all of living a life of service to his community. I had the pleasure of appearing with Arnold in several stage productions over the years, another of his gifts to our community. We are blessed to have such folk among us.

My sincerest condolences to Charmaine and the Lowden family on Arnold's passing. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Lowden when he was the Chair of the East Kootenay Addiction Services Society. Dr. Lowden's passion for giving to his community and addressing health and social concerns was evident in the years he spend addressing the issue of harm reduction and substance misuse. This public health problem has never been popular, yet Dr. Lowden was one of the early advocates for novel programming that would assist people struggling with the challenges of substance misuse. When he stepped down from the Board after decades of service, EKASS honoured Dr. Lowden and Mrs. Lowden for his years of work by creating a College of the Rockies Scholarship in their names for someone pursuing a career in the health care field. Over the years, Dr. Lowden became an example for me of how to age with dignity, while continuing to be an active and contributing member of one's community. Whether it was through his work with First Baptist Church, the Meals on Wheels Program, or community arts, Dr. Lowden did not slow down. I even had the opportunity to be on stage with him in a Paul Kershaw production of Macbeth. I hope the Lowden family can take comfort in celebrating a life well live. Dean Nicholson, Executive Director, East Kootenay Addiction Services Society

Our condolences to the family and community on the loss of a great person.
One of my volunteer theatre pleasures was to usher Dr Lowden and Charmaine to their regular seats for Symphony and other performances; they were always so gracious. Recalling, the working years at Ministry of Health – growing families – parenthood and challenges; I remember Dr Lowden coming into my department, asking how I was doing? I lied and said ‘I’m fine’. He opened the conversation by saying “I know what’s going on.” His compassion for me resonates years later. May His Soul Rest in Peace and the Lord give comfort and healing to his family.
In Sympathy

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Lowden. He was the most fantastic person to work for. I worked under Dr. Lowden at the East Kootenay Health Unit. He was the most fairest man to work for and always had a Big Smile and a few jokes. He will be dearly missed. My condolences go out to Carla and the entire family.

I remember seeing him at the Kootenay Ice games. I'd always say "Hi Dr. Lowden Sr!" He'd reply "I hope my boy is treating you right. If he doesn't you tell me." He was the Cooledge family doctor. He diagnosed Lloyd's MS. I'll always remember his smile. My sincere condolances to the family.

We have known Arnold and Charmaine for about seven years. What a kind gentleman he was. Arnold always had a smile and kind words for everyone.
His faith in Christ was evident. When he moved to the care home he never complained. He certainly expressed his love for Charmaine and his family.
Upon many visits with Arnold and many walks together Arnold was always wanting to chat. When our visits were ending ,we would pray together which would melt my heart. In march our visits came to an end with COVID-19.
I thank God for that time together.
We will miss him greatly.

The greatest compliment I can offer is that Arnold and Charmaine remind me so much of my own parents and some of my dearest friends of their generation who just seemed to be present, a backbone of communities, and shapers of them. Whether at church or in sports, the arts, or a family dinner, something solid and steadfast makes us feel sure when they are around. Arnold always had an authentic hello, handshake and twinkle in his eye when we’d greet. This attitude and character have extended through the family as well. While there’s no question that Arnold’s life was rich and long, this can’t possibly diminish what I’m sure is an exceedingly empty place in the lives of the family. To the Lowden’s, may you cry cleansing tears, recall fond times, and laugh together at all the silly moments and memories of a really great guy. Peace and hugs.

Every summer since I was born my family and I would travel from Vancouver to Cranbrook to visit with my grandparents. One of my favourite memories with my papa was going out to a disc golf course and playing with him. I had never even heard of this game but he had a planned a day for the grandkids to go and play... I’ll remember sitting in the back of your old blue and white truck driving around town listening to music and playing croquet with you in the backyard. These are the memories I will hold near to my heart and this is the man I will remember. I love you papa, rest easy. Love your granddaughter, Grace

We send our sincere sympathy to each one grieving the loss of this wonderful man.
I was a little girl in Gull Lake Saskatchewan when young Dr Lowden came to join Dr Matheson in his medical practice. Everyone in town was thrilled to welcome this intelligent, hard working young Doctor, and his beautiful young wife. I thought she was the most beautiful lady I had ever seen. Dr Lowden took care of our family’s every medical need, and became more trusted and revered as the time went by.
You can imagine how thrilled I was to find out that he had come to Cranbrook! We met for the first time at a funeral in the First Baptist Church, and he remembered me after all those years...and made thoughtful inquiries about family members back home.
Dr Lowden was a giant of a man...with a gentle, thoughtful, humble manner and he will never be forgotten..
Very Sincerely
Carole (and Wilf) Haberman
