Obituary of Russel James Allen

Please share a memory of Russel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Russel James Allen announce his passing on November 28, 2020.

Russ was born in Victoria, B.C., on May 16, 1956 to his Irish Mom & Dad. He spent his childhood engaging in all kinds of shenanigans with his siblings and the neighbourhood kids, namely the Nielsen family, which he has remained good friends with over the years.  It was at that time; he discovered a passion for blowing things up.  This led him to a career as a driller & blaster. A profession that he was exceptionally good at and very proud of.  Russ owned a drilling and blasting business on the Island for many years.  In 2002 he loaded up the family and moved to the mountains in Kimberley, B.C.  The family settled into East Kootenay living, and all remain in the area.

Russ is lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Tammy, his daughter Kristin (Christoph), sons Darcy and Jordan and beloved grandchildren Sophie, Zachary, Simone and Violet. Also remembering Russ, are his sister Barbara Wilson, brothers David and Leslie, sister-in-law Cindy Allen, brother-in-law Dan Pedersen (Eileen) and mother-in-law Helli Pedersen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russ was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Agnes Allen, brother John and father-in-law Palle Pedersen.

When you think of Russ, you will remember his big smile and loud laugh, his love of a cold beer while listening to good tunes,

and his many stories (that would have different versions each time), were all based on true events!

Just a song before I leave

A few words to believe in

A touch we'll both remember in time

Like a warm fire in December

They'll remind us who is real

And who is just passing by

A small taste of what once was

The sweet smell of some bright springtime

Then you can think of me out here

And remember the good times that we had

We all love you!

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2021.
