Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

March 3, 1918 – June 14, 2021

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Harold Nielson announce that after 103 years he took his last ride, the morning of June 14, 2021.

Harold was born in Hornbaek, Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1926 with his mother and brother. They settled in the town of Edgewater, B.C. He and his family purchased the ranch in Brisco in 1934.  Harold served his country in the 2nd world war where he met his bride Betty and they married in 1945. On the farm in Brisco they welcomed their 6 children and lived there until 1960 when they moved to Cranbrook. After a short stay in the city, he realized that wasn’t for him and they purchased the ranch in Wycliffe in 1963, where they stayed until their move to Marysville in 1988.

In his early years Harold worked as a miner, a logger, and in construction. He enjoyed many happy hours on his horses and even more on his tractor. No one could keep up to him, whether it was Christmas treeing, fencing, chasing the cows, throwing hay bales, he could work from dawn to dusk.

In Harold’s retirement years you could find him and his wife at the Bingo Hall or at the Casino. He enjoyed many hours at the blackjack table.

Harold enjoyed every precious moment he spent with his family. All of us will cherish the many laughs, tears, stories, and hugs we had with our Dad, Pa, Grandpa and Great Pa.

He was predeceased by his grandson Trevor, son-in-law Ken, daughter Janette and wife of 66 years Betty.

Harold will be forever remembered and loved by his family; Patricia Schafer, Cliff (Tressa), Denise (Dave Sommerville), Christine (Ron Becker), Keith (Cathy) and son-in-law Rick Wallach, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Ride On Dad, we love you!

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
