Obituary of Gerald Francis Goyer

October 20, 1936, in Belleville, Ontario – March 10, 2022, in Cranbrook, B.C.

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our hero, our Dad at the age of 85.

Gerry is survived by his daughters, Kathryn (Ian) Dougall, Dianne Goyer, Laura Goyer, sons Stephen (Gail) Goyer, David (Tracy) Goyer, grandchildren Matthew Goyer, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Goyer, Emma Goyer, Griffin Goyer (Aida), step grandchildren Devon (Sean), Kylee, Talus, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Carolyn London, Gary Goyer, sisters-in-law Evelyn Collins, Joan McCoy, Kathryn Michaud, and Mary McCoy.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret McCoy Goyer, his parents Francis “Frank” Goyer, Elizabeth Osbaldeston Goyer, his brothers Vern, Leo and Bill Goyer and sister Gwen Goyer Evans.

A Funeral Mass will be held on June 10, 2022, at 1:00 pm (MST) at Christ the Servant Parish located at 1100-14^th Ave S, Cranbrook, B.C.

An interment will take place in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, In September 2022, with a Celebration of Life luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Society.

We are very grateful for the compassionate care Dad/Gerry received from the nurses at Joseph’s Creek Care Village in his final days, especially Kaylee, Jeanette, Chantelle, Kim, and HCA’s: Sam and Leslie.

We would also like to thank Dr K. Wight for being Dad’s GP these past few years and for always considering our concerns regarding Dad’s health care. She was very gentle and caring with Dad.

Special thanks to Father Jim McHugh for coming from Kimberley to give Dad a final blessing.
