Mr Sindholt was my grade 6 teacher back in 1967/68. I remember him with great fondness. He was extraordinary. Often in my thoughts.

Dear Karl, Glenna and family, Condolences to you all who will miss Dave very much. I first met Dave at the Dominion Store where my good friend, Pat, and I worked weekends as cashiers. Dave and Pat were truly devoted to one another from the very start. We kept up or life long friendship and enjoyed many visits in the Toronto region, sharing photos, e-mails and phone calls when Dave and Pat moved west. We, too, appreciated Dave's nature photography and his delight in his beautiful growing family. Dave's sunny nature and warmth was truly a gift to Pat, family and friends. Christa and Ken Stamp

I am so sorry to read about Dave's passing. After my wife Barb passed away, I was invited to dinner by Dave at Mr. Mikes and we met mutual friend Joel Vinge ( born on the same day, month and year as Dave) and they split the tab paying for my dinner. I first met Dave singing barbershop and saw him many times at the hospital when he was getting chemo which my late wife went through for seven years. We had lots of interaction on Facebook and then it stopped, shortly after he move into Kootenay Village. I really enjoyed the interaction with Dave and he also told me how he missed Pat. He is now with Pat and the country side will be much better when they are laid to rest somewhere in the beautiful part of the world we live in. Take care Dave, RIP.

Karl, It made me so sad to hear from Martina, about your dad's passing. Just this past January, he reached out to us. We exchanged our addresses. His in Cranbrook and my new one here in Calgary. We went down memory lane about the good times our boys had together. Karl, your mom and dad were so proud of you. It was obvious those many years ago in Kleinburg, and it was obvious, reading in his email about you finding your love and becoming the proud father of two and making him the happiest grandpa. Hold on to your memories with your dad and your mom, may they give you comfort and strength. Our deepest condolences to you, your loved ones, all your family and friends. Our hearts go out to you Karin, Lukas and Martina (yes, also Michael will be with you)

Jamey and I are sending condolences to to all of Dave's family. We are lucky to have been neighbours with Dave and Pat in Cranbrook for the last 4+ years. We have always admired Dave's positive outlook on life, his love for nature, his love for his family, his ability to "make things happen", and his courage in facing life's challenges. He was quite the man!! We will miss him! (Lori)

I believe I only met David once when I was a mid-twenty year old on a short visit to his home, though I feel I got to know him well through his loving son Karl. Over the years Karl spoke of his dad fondly and often. It was obvious that Karl grew up in a generous and kind household. His dad was clearly a strong role model with a caring heart. Karl spoke most often of his dad when we were camping together - he was always eager to share things his father taught him. Karl knew he was always loved - my heart goes out to Karl and everyone loved by David and grieving this loss. Sincerely, James Valcke

I was David’s dental hygienist for the last 5 years. He was the kind of person who, when I saw his name on my schedule, I knew would be a highlight of my day. He was a very interesting man to talk to, and had a joy in life that was very special. I always looked forward to our visits together, as he reminded me very much of my own father. My deepest condolences to Karl and all David’s family and friends. He was a gem. - Joanne Armstrong
