My deep condolences to the family . It was with sadness and pleasant memories that I learned of "Mr." Warland's passing. My lasting memory is of his kindness in taking time to guide me in a re-take of my Chemistry exam in the summer months so that I could be accepted for UBC. I was most pleased to be able to share a few words with him at our 50th grad reunion in 2016. What an admirable man!

You won’t find a finer gentleman and educator than Mr. Warland. Going to his class was always a pleasure. God bless, Rod Bay

Moving to Cranbrook half way thru grade 12, in 1975, was a very tough transition. In my 12 years of schooling it was the 8th school in the 7th community across 3 different provinces and I had a great deal of internal angst. He was my favorite teacher in Cranbrook. He also taught me some dance and offered to help me get a dance scholarship in Montreal. While I liked my other teachers well enough he was the only one I was interested in introducing to my parents at the graduation BBQ. After the introductions he blurted out "oh, does that mean that we are engaged now"? Both mom and dad cracked up and I got a good chuckle. I skipped school so much that once when I showed up at his Geography class - he asked me "are you a new student"? (of course he knew I wasn't, but he loved razzing me). I really appreciated the way he just accepted me and met me where I was at. I thought about him alot over the years. Rest in the light and love of your loved ones that have gone before you dear Mr. Warland.

Mr. Warland was one of my favourite teachers. I had him for Geography 12 and he brought that course to life. He was knowledgeable, of course, but also passionate about the subject and a very funny man. One of a kind, I’d say. Condolences to his family and friends.

Fondest memories ski touring into Currie bowl, Fernie, and hiking Laket. Such a wonderful teacher with a quick wit and sense of humour that always seemed to provide a life lesson for his students. He will be missed by many.

My all time favorite person to meet on any mountain or any street in Cranbrook. He always welcomed everyone with that big toothless grin and some witty banter.
Mr. Warland was a kind, thoughtful and enthusiastic person who will be missed.
Condolences to the family.

Mr Warland, as I have always referred to him as, was one of my favourite teachers. He was a wonderful teacher who made learning fun. His stories still make me smile. In later years when I would see him he would always have a smile and kind word. His sense of humour was magical. My deepest sympathy to the family.
