Edward Joseph Wiome (“Eddy”)

May 15th, 1928 — June 12, 2022

It is with great sadness the family of Edward Wiome announces his passing on June 12th, 2022 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C.

Dad’s family originally came to Canada from Hungary and settled in Minton, Saskatchewan where Dad was born. Dad married Mom in 1948 and eventually took over his father’s farm. After seven amazing and memorable years on the farm, they moved to Ocean Falls where Dad was a steamfitter and also employed by Crown Zellerbach. They later relocated to Port Melon, Gibsons Landing and finally Cranbrook where Dad worked at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill until he retired.

Dad had many hobbies, things he enjoyed, like darts, coffee time with friends and of course family dinners and get-togethers. One hobby he was so expert at was his wood working, Over the years he made countless items for the kids and grandkids, passing down to them creations he put his heart and soul into, creations to be cherished for years to come.

There was no doubt he was one of the hardest working men and moreover a man who cherished, loved and always put his family first. He was the glue that kept the family together and there will never be another like him. What an amazing life you had and shared with all of us.

Dad lost the love of his life, Agnes, on November 9th, 2021 and we know Mom was patiently waiting for you. We know you are where you wanted, belong and needed to be now, in your Agnes’ arms. Well, now besides finally with your beloved, you are now surrounded by and reunited with family and friends as you catch up and share memories over cards. We miss you and Mom so terribly much, but we know you are happy, at peace and watching over all of us each and every day.

Edward is survived by his loving children Sharlene (Lindsay), Rick (Elizabeth), Shirley (Geoff) and Karalee, grandchildren David, Kirk, Lonny, Taylor (Jordan) and Sydney (Thais), great-grandchildren Britney, Keaton, Trey, Grayson, Jayce, Braden and Jordyn. Because of the type of person Dad was, it would be next to impossible to list all his friends and the lives he touched over the years.

There will be no service as we will be taking both Mom and Dad back to Minton, Saskatchewan where their beautiful life began. Honoring Mom and Dad’s wishes in this truly amazing way is so very special to all of us.

The family would also like to express a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christopher Chan, you always showed great compassion and took good care of Dad.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
