Obituary of Hector DeCecco

Please share a memory of Hector to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Hector Dececco February 25,2023

after a brave and brief battle with cancer at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.

We his family truly believe this disease was secondary to his broken heart after losing the love of his life Sheridan DeCecco in 2016 after 48 years of marriage.

Hector (Ettore) DeCecco was proudly born in the Province of Udine, Italy September 13th, 1945.

He and his sister Idana immigrated to Alberta, Canada December 20th, 1949 when Hector was 4 years

old.  Growing up in Jasper, Alberta is where Hector met and married Sheridan along with making many long lasting friendships.

Soon after they moved to Surrey, BC where their first son Grant John was born followed by Gregory Michael three years later. After a short time in Surrey, they moved to Abbotsford, BC where they happily raised their boys.

With Sherry's declining health, they made their last move to Cranbrook, BC with hopes of slowing down the progression of her disease. Hector was her fierce protector until the end.

Although their hearts ached to see their grandchildren more often it was the eternal friendships they made in Cranbrook that kept them happy and content.

Hector's memory lives on through his sons Grant (Wendel) and Greg (Candace) and his 5 beloved grandchildren Sarah, Jacob, Benjamin, Owen and Wyatt.

Ciao for now Nono, we love you!

The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital and a very special thank-you to Kirk Green, Bill Eedy and Dane Chasca for their caring support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Angel Flight East Kootenay Association.

A celebration of Hector’s life will take place Friday March 10, 2023, at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook at 1pm.
