I have nothing but positive and warm memories of my time with Joel. He had such a gentle and comforting presence, and he and I connected immediately over our love of music and books. There is one memory with Joel that stands out to me the most. It is honestly one of my favorite memories I've ever had with anyone. One night, we were hanging out, talking about our love of music and what it means to us, and he asked me if he could share one of his favorite songs with me. Such a request has always been welcome for me, and I was happy to. We sat silently for the duration of the song. He then told me why it meant something to him. I then asked him if I could do the same, and he happily obliged. We went back and forth like this for hours, each taking our turn sharing, explaining and then both of us listening to the songs that we held closest to our hearts. I have never been able to connect with another person that way, and it was such a special experience that I will hold in my heart forever.

Paul and Cathy, It has been much too long since we've seen you two. How sad it is that we finally reconnect with such devastating news. While we never met Joel, with parents like you we know he must have been a special person.
