I have known Doris and Dale since 1964, when I first wemt to work at Summerland Trout Hatchery, where Dale was working. They recognized that I was a very young teenager and somewhat overwhelmed by my new workplace and away from home. They -- especially Doris -- made me feel welcome. Dale did too. It might have been that summer or more likely the next summer that I met Doris' nieces. All of them -- especially Doris -- gave me a sense of family and real friendship, which has lasted over the decades. Time, geography, and circumstances (life!) have separated all of us over the years, but memories hold strong: Doris is still a special person in my heart, she has always been a friend through those early years and whenever we had a chance to get together (too seldom in recent years) . Life isn't quite as full without her presence in it.
