I first met Janet in the late 80's at a family event. I am married to Janet's nephew, Ted. My first impression was how happy her and Carl seemed to be together. I watched her become totally immersed in doing the "chicken dance" with Carl and had to tell her afterward how fun it was to watch. I had never seen the dance before and we had a great time as she taught me all the steps! Later we toured parts of Victoria together and I enjoyed spending time with her and her beautiful family very much. She was very kind and welcoming to me and treated me like family! I know she will be dearly missed. Anna Jirik

I was a classmate of Janet's throughout our schooling in Cranbrook. She always had a smile for people she met and a kind word. She was a valued member of our class and my husband and I knew Janet and Carl from beyond the school years through sport's, hockey. and ball. We were saddened to learn of her passing, although we knew health issues made things difficult for her. Pat & Dunc MacDonald

Auntie Janet and uncle Carl were my godparents. I only have little memories of them both. I last seen them when I was 13 years old. I remember that she was always kind to me she had a heart of gold. I wish that when I went west from Winnipeg I could have visited the both of them. Our time was running out for visits so I never got the chance to see them.
