Sorry to hear about Dales passing! Never easy we all know! As hard as it is for his loved ones left behind, we can can only hope and trust he is in a better place.
The years when the Gamber family would make their trek to Alaska, they would stop over in Dawson Creek for a visit with the Bergeron's. We would play, visit or go camping with them as families. I have many fond memories of these long past days of adventure and fun times on the motorbikes or around the camp fire. It is difficult when someone leaves us before their time but we have to hang on to the faith we have in an eternal life with our creator.
Thoughts and prayers are with you Stella, Lucy, Robyn, Heather and TIm as you go through this difficult time.

To Lucy, Robyn, Heather and Tim,
Just adding a few more thoughts about Dale:
When I was diaper training the boys, my goal as well as theirs was to have
a dry diaper by the end of the day. At first, praise seemed to work but when I
offered the boys a foot long red twizzler as a reward.
Amazingly, Dale soon began to have the driest diaper in town . I was thrilled until the neighbor lady mentioned that Dale would find a spot behind the garage.
As you probably have gathered, Clarence loved to fish and as a family we hiked to many place. If we had planned an overnight trip, our backpacks were quite heavy. Dale and his father designed a light and easy to pack tent for us to use.
We were high up in the mountains and we could tell that there was quite a storm coming. Our two engineers assembled a tent - or what was to be a tent.
The storm was horrendous and by morning the tent was destroyed by the wind and the rain.
Dale met a young lady at the St . Matthew's folk group by the name
of Lucy. They were married and soon transferred to Singapore. When they returned to Canada, three children were soon ho follow: Robyn, Heather and Tim. Dale took his job of being a father very seriously.
Timmy and the girls were over at Grandma's for a weekend visit and all was going very well. Dale and Lucy had arrived on Saturday and were going to help putting the kids to bed.
Dale announced it was bedtime and said everyone should be crawling into bed.
Just then Timmy explained to Dale that this was Grandma's house and only Grandma had the power to make up the rules. Then Timmy asked "Why don 't you sit down and join us, Dad!"
These are just a few of the many memories I have of Dale. I can tell you that he was an honest man, true to his word and a very hard worker. He learnt his carpentry skills from his father and he enjoyed completing projects where he could use his hands. He was a wonderful helper in the family business, (Eastwood Greenhouse)
working very long hours.

Dear Lucy, Robyn, Heather and Tim,
As a mother, my mind is flooded with memories of Dale. There are so many wonderful happenings.he was born at the General hospital, where a nurse
commented that he was a champion sleeper. Everytime that the nurses visited him or when family dropped by, he was asleep.
The nurses also commented that he had quite the appetite. Dale's father Clarence and his brother Dean, were very picky eaters and it seemed like I was running a restaurant. Then I brought Dale home from the hospital. Dale ate just about anything I put in front of him.
Dale's Grandmother (Gamber) would come over each evening to give the boy's a bath. Dale soon learned to move his arms about and splash as much water as he could. Consistently,
he would aim this water at his Grandmother!
When the family acquired a miniature dachshund, the dog immediately figured out that when camping, Dale slept the longest, did not move when he was in his sleeping bag and was a source of warmth. Pitou and Dale soon became bunk buddies.
While growing up Dale learnt to play the guitar quite well. At Christmas, he would accompany me in playing on the guitar many Christmas songs. He joined the folk group at St, Alphonsus Catholic Church and later joined the folk group at St. Matthew's Catholic Church.
As Dale grew up, Clarence soon realized that he had a fishing buddy. There was nothing that would stand in the way of them finding that elusive fishing hole. They would walk, ride motorbikes, fly in helicopters, take plane rides, canoe, float in rubber rafts, and ford rivers in the jeep.
These trips were not without incident. While floating on the upper Red Deer River in our rubber raft, they encountered a "chute" on the river, where all the water was funneled through a narrow channel. The raft flipped, throwing the boys and their father into the deep, swift, glacial fed
waters. The boys knew how to swim expertly and soon had their father up on shore, stripped of his cold, wet clothing. It is interesting to note that this is when a tour bus passed on the nearby road. What scenery!
While in the Yukon, these fishermen went on a fly-in fishing expedition.
The plane departed with arrangements to return in two days. However, storm clouds rolled in, preventing the plane from returning the next evening. Food was packed for only two days, but the excursion needed to be extended to five days. The fishermen thought that the fish that they would catch would satisfy their hunger pains. But there were no fish to be caught on that trip.
As you can imagine, there are many adventures that I can tell you about
my son that I can recall.
I pray that Dale and his father will have located a wonderful river, where there
are many fishing holes containing fish
to be caught.
It is also my hope that Dale's guardian angels will surround him to keep him company on his way to eternal life.
My wish for you is for you to keep Dale's memory alive with all the wonderful memories you have of shared times with him.
As you know, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Lovingly,
Stella Gamber

I was saddened to read in the Edmonton Journal that Dale had passed away. I lived next door with my mom & dad to Clarence and Stella when they were first married and built their new house. Our family moved shortly after that time, but in 1959 or so, I was privileged to work for Eastwood Greenhouses for at least two years, starting when I was in graded 9, until the business was sold. I recall working after school and on weekends, and sometimes having the opportunity to give Dale and Dean a ride on my wheelbarrow as I worked in the greenhouse--whoever said that work couldn't be fun?. I was aware that Clarence had passed on in 1991, and I am most pleased to see that Stella is still the matriarch of the family. I have always been of the opinion that Clarence and Stella were two of the most influential people in my life. They were marvelous people to work for, and every time I smell geraniums, those memories of my childhood come flooding back. I have often thought of Clarence, Stella, Dale and Dean over the years,
My condolences to the Gamber family, and a special 'thank you' to Stella!
Sincerely,
Darryl Smith

Lucy, Robyn, Heather, Tim,
Dean and Stella,
We were so sorry to hear about Dale's untimely death. We don't usually get the Calgary Herald but, by chance, Wolfgang read it today and was surprised and saddened to read of Dale's passing. Although we didn't know Dale well, we can imagine that this is a very sad time for everyone in the family.
Please know that we are thinking of you with sympathy at this difficult time.
Most sincerely,
Susan and Wolfgang Stampe

Lucy, Robyn, Heather and Tim,
As a baby, your father and his brother were bathed each evening by their Grandmother. Once Dale was able to move his arms about and splash water, he would only aim the water towards his Grandmother ( Grandma Gamber).
Lovingly, Stella Gamber
